Have A Little Family Time

Last Sunday was the special time for my relatives and families when we congratulate the youngest family member's upcoming college life and his future.

I was happily dining on roasted pork/steak/fleshy prawn with mashed potato, broccoli and salad, kim-chi, roasted corn, green beans from second aunt's place whose son is heading off to the college in New York.

Everyone was saying that the highlight of the meal was the steak, except me.
I was cutting the steak into smaller pieces and was repeating on the same spot of the meat.
After I put a piece into my mouth, I realized that my arm exercise through cutting wasn't that rewarding. It was like chewing old gum that you need to chew endlessly.
Should've ordered it as medium rare, instead of well-done.

The Power of Speaking

When I was sitting in my journalism and the law class last semester, the discussion about certain topics was heating up, students' hands rose everywhere.
"I think this is this.... that is that.. because of such and such consequences, it resulted like this.."
Blah blah....

As I was hearing to them, some of them.. convincing rate 5, from scale 0 to 10.

And some of them.. 9 or 10.. of course, from my own judgment.
When I thought it was a really great explanation, it pierced my consciousness, like a dart.
Knowing that this'd give them a bit of embarrassment, I turned my head to these people anyway, to check who they are.
A very logical, convincing statement made my head to nod at them with full of agreements.

From word point A to word point B, they were saying the words very clearly. Each sentence, worded nicely and fluently, as if they have a typed script in front of them. And as a whole, each sentence stick to each other like a glue very coherently and produce a thoughtful, fruitful theme which I eventually appreciate.. to whomever deliver that thought.. or an idea.

It's like a whole packet. A star shape, heart shape, whichever shapes you get in that packet, different shapes covered with bitter dark chocolate flavor, specifically designed just for dark chocolate lovers.

"Wow, I never could think of that. That's an interesting perspective. That's an another view," I thought to myself.

And then...

"Why haven't I thought of that....?

I could almost feel the weight of their confidences in their voices, as if they were solidly believing in what they were saying through their lips moving.
"How could he/she speak that well? Where are all those words coming from?" I kept thinking.
As I was waiting for my turn to speak, I could feel myself sweating and becoming anxious.
"What am I to say??"

If we examine our lives more closely, we can see most of them are consisting of talking.
Interesting thing is.. no matter what you do for living, talking is necessary.
Whether you do the sales, teaching.. Even if you'd like to run for a political office, you have to go through talking. And talking has to be moving in order to win the vote.

I get to see people who talk like a river streaming.
And I often noticed them.
Not only noticed them, I found them VERY interesting, thus.. I get to see the part of me envying them and possibly attracted to them....?
Seriously, the opposite sex of good utterance can move my heart.

I never realized the importance of speaking until now.
Like everyone else, talking is just talking. What that can be important? I used to think.

But no, talking is crucial.
Someone can be a millionaire, can inspire people traveling around the world, simply by talking.
Someone can be kicked out of their jobs by the words they put out into the world.
Talking can be a simplest way to do communications, but at the same time, you can make it
HUGE. So huge.

It may look simple, but it's not.

You can make other people drawn into you.
Or other people may think you're a boring person.

Talking can bring you a job, persons, money, popularity and even the whole world.
Talking is accessible to everybody, but depends on how you can use this tool, it can be a mundane conversation or it can be a powerful speech that can save millions of people's lives.
It's like a simple ingredient like chickens or potatoes.. depends on who the cook is, those can turn out simple menu or luxurious food.
